Embattled Senator representing Oyo
Senatorial District, Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonnu of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), has had her mandate upheld by the National Assembly Election Petition
Tribunal sitting in Ibadan, on Tuesday.
The petitioner, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka
of Accord Party, had petitioned the tribunal to remove the former speaker of
the state assembly and declare him the winner instead. He had sought five
reliefs based on massive rigging, over-voting, illegal thumb printing,
non-compliance with electoral acts and allegation of holding dual citizenship
against Sen. Sunmonu but the tribunal struck out everything on the ground that
it lacks merit.
