Senator Monsurat Sunmonu
representing Oyo Central Senatorial District has been alleged for possessing
dual citizenship of Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Members of her constituency
have consequently filed a law suit at the Abuja Federal High Court for her
removal.
The claimants are asking the court to
declare that Senator Sunmonu lacked the requisite capacity to hold the office
of a senator having voluntarily acquired the citizenship of United Kingdom
against the letters and spirit of Section 66 (1) ( a) of the 1999 Constitution
as amended.
