As against public opinion and general
knowledge that privately owned universities charge more from their students for
tuition, the Pro-Chancellor of Lead City University in Ibadan, Prof Jide
Owoeye, has said that fees are in fact cheaper at private universities.
He claims that the government pays
up to N700,000 for Arts and Social Science related courses and up to N1.5m for
Medical and Technological courses but nobody knows because the government
subsidizes those universities.
